Bienvenidos - Welcome to Mrs Dolan's Spanish class.  Your children will learn the Spanish language and culture throughout their years here at St. Raymond's.  The National Foreign Language Standards are communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and community. This will include reading, writing, speaking and listening.  Grade 2  students will learn the Spanish prayer the Ave Maria and from grades 3-8 the Our Father/Padre Nuestro.
 
Pre-k   will have an introduction to Spanish words and numbers, use the Smart board to match Spanish colors and colors and learn how to greet others and say goodbye in Spanish. Count  1-10 in Spanish. Sing and dance with some songs. Coloring pages will be included. Songs will be taught.

Kindergarten will learn to count 1-15 in Spanish at the beginning of the school year. Then they will learn up to 20. We are also learning new vocabulary words and color pictures. We play Spanish games on the Smart board, Learn days of the week and months of the year with music on the Smart board and sing and dance with some songs.
1rst through 2nd grade learn more Spanish numbers, more Spanish vocabulary, color seasonal and religious pictures, play games in Spanish with the Smart board. 

3rd
  Students will receive new Spanish books Exploring Spanish and start with courtesies and introductions. They will copy notes when needed on loose leaf paper and keep them in a folder. Some chapters will have fun projects to create.  Currently we are starting Geography of Spain and Mexico. We will talk about reports in class.
4th
Students will learn Spanish in their text Exploring Spanish, using the Smart board, create dioramas, projects, learn and review songs and prayers. We started Chapter 9 Foods and they will choose a project from page 116-117. Only from letter D,E, and F.
 
5th Currently we are working with Chapter 15 Weather and Seasons. Students will choose one of the projects from page 199 as was discussed in class. They either have to choose what clothing is needed for certain temperatures and write the Spanish Weather.  For example: a picture of a coat-----Hace frio.  They need five things to represent the weather.  Or they can choose 5 cities around the world and write down the temperature in Fahrenheit and tell whether that's warm or cold in Spanish. They have to present it by April 11 the latest.

6th       Students are working on duolingo.com and quizizz.com on their Chromebooks. They have been using the Junior High book Avancemos and learning new language skills.  We just completed p 22-23 Learning classroom phrases and will be tested Friday April 27.

7th and 8th grade will learn Spanish with text and workbook Avancemos. They will continue to practice Spanish through group work and conversations, conjugation of verbs, using the Smartboard, Chrome books and create projects that will be graded. We have started duolingo.com (this program helps with more Spanish practice and it's free. We are currently conjugating the verb IR which means "to go".  Yo voy -----I am going, Tu vas ------you are going  etc.  (In our book Avancemos 1A)
