Welcome to St. Raymond School

Welcome to St. Raymond School, a Catholic elementary school dedicated to nurturing a Christ-centered community where students serve God and others, develop their talents, strive for academic excellence and become life-long learners.  Founded in 1926, St. Raymond School continues to build on the strong foundation and traditions that were established over the years.  Students are encouraged to develop a positive respect for themselves and others while learning to demonstrate faith through action.  Our academic purpose is to develop each student to achieve scholastic success and to grow   spiritually, emotionally, socially and aesthetically.  Come and visit to see us in action.

Principal’s Corner…for May 18, 2019

“I give you a new commandment, says the Lord: love one another as I have loved you.”  (John 13:34)

Oh, my goodness!  Doesn’t it seem as if this commandment to love one another has often fallen on deaf ears?  It came from the mouth of the Lord and still we are slow to pay heed.  If we all loved each other as the Lord loves us, I believe there would be an end to senseless killings and apparent hate crimes.  Folks would instead be kind and gentle with each other, lending a hand or ear or whatever simply to follow the words of Jesus – “love one another”.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank seventh graders, Gus Dengel, Andrea Kules, Michael Rodriguez, John Pizzo, Catherine Saporito and Victoria Saporito, members of the Diocesan Wind Ensemble, for representing St. Raymond School at the “Catholics for Freedom of Religion” Rally at St. John the Baptist High School recently.   I understand that the rally will be televised (CFN) over the July 4th holiday for everyone to view.  I will try to remember to remind everyone closer to the date.

I also would like to boast about our students who are being recognized this Sunday at St. Agnes Cathedral for placing in the diocesan Respect Life Contest.  Eighth graders, Michaela Fusco, Julie Sheehan and Emma Bratichak won first place in their division for the mural they made.  Seventh grader, Victoria Saporito also won first place for the video that she made.  Our entire St. Raymond School Family is very proud of their accomplishment.

This week continues to keep us busy!  We’re having a KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION for the incoming children, a RELIGION FAIR, STUDENT GOLF DAY, and the SCHOOL MASS.  It seems that the closer we get to the end, the more there is to do!  Let’s look at the weekly schedule:

  • Tuesday:KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION; Pizza day; Parish Children’s Choir from 5-6 PM in the school auditorium
  • Wednesday:RELIGION FAIR – “Jesus in our lives” in the auditorium; Deli sandwiches; Spanish Scrabble after school
  • Thursday:STUDENT GOLF DAY: Bagels; 8th Grade Math Enrichment at lunchtime; Chess Club after school
  • Friday:School Mass at 8:45 AM with the Second Grade hosting; Hot pretzels; 8th Grade Math Enrichment at lunchtime

Our annual Golf Outing is right around the corner on Tuesday, May 28th.  Folks are welcome to join us for the dinner at the outing which is honoring Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.  Let us know!
